Exploring the neighborhood

On my third day I thought I better take advantage of sunlight and go for a walk. I took a nice warm shower, got dressed and was on my way. Walking through the courtyard is always a treat. I like to take some time to take it all in. A lot of people have hanging gardens on their terraces. And windows here have shutters on the outside. Also, people hang their laundry on these terraces too, since it's very common to have a washer but not a dryer.

I had done some research online and was happy to find a bakery only 100m away! The bakery is called Pastelería Estrella del Sur and is known as a "bakery boutique".

Inside is filled with all sorts of marvels and treasures and deliciousness!

The woman who tended to me wasn't very enthused. I guess not everyone is as exited about bakery treats. I asked her if there was anything that was typical to Madrid, or Spain and she replied with "ehh, not really?" I didn't let her lack of excitement take away from mine! I spent 2,50 euros and was on my way.
Across the street I saw some benches and thought I would enjoy my bakery treats while people watching. There wasn't a lot of people on the street, mostly cars passing by. Some mothers with school aged children walking by. A few people walking dogs. Not busy at all, and I was fine with that.

I continued my walk, capturing some pics of the sites before heading back. I will definitely be going back to the bakery!

Tiana
