We started in San Antonio, with New Orleans as our destination. About an 8 hour drive, most of the trip was getting out of Texas. A must see/experience/stop, is a gas station and convinience store named Buc-ee's!

In true fashion of "Everything is Bigger in Texas" Buc-ee's does not disappoint! With 35 locations in Texas, and 1 in Alabama, this place is like an amusement park. If you forgot anything during your travels, this is the place to go!

We stopped a couple of times and each time was a mini experience. They have super clean restrooms, and homemade barbeque! Warning though... you will lose track of time here!

After stopping by for lunch, and finally clearing Texas, we made it into Louisiana! It was pretty cloudy and it did rain, but luckily the weather cleared up by the time to got to New Orleans. The route coming into Louisiana was different than I was used to, so I got to try a Cajun comfort food called Boudin Balls. Google the deliciousness! lol The gas station we stopped at randomly happened to be known for the "Best Boudin in Town". The lady in line in front of me drove there just for the balls. Hahaha Sorry couldn't help it! She recommended the jalapeño stuffed ones, and they did not disappointed. I did regret not buying more!

Zoomed in!

We made it to New Orleans by 11pm. Night life was booming, and we got a super cool hotel in the French Quarters right across the street from a Jazz Club. The Frenchman Hotel is like a walk back in time! We were on the second floor, with an amazing private balcony! After checking in, we walked over to The Turtle Bay for late night pizza and drinks!

Private balcony!

The food was amazing, and the drinks strong! The only regret is we shoud have taken advantage that the pool was open until 12am and went for a dip first, because Turtle Bay is open 24 hours. By the time we got back, the pool was closed! -_-

We went to bed listening to Jazz music, and it was pretty awesome! In the morning, we checked out and made our way to Cafe Du Monde for breakfast!

Beignets and Frozen Cafe Au Lait

Here's a tip.. avoid wearing black when ordering beignets covered with an absurd amount of powdered sugar! Also, if you want to sit inside be vigilant! Tables open up fairly quickly, you just have to get to it fast! The waitstaff will clear the table right away!

From the Big Easy, we decided we could make the 9 hour drive to Tampa in one day. We crossed through Alabama, Mississippi, and finally into Florida. We made it through bursts of rain storms, traffic, and construction, but I finally made it into Tampa that evening! Took 4 days, 37 hours, and 8 states, and I had my van home. Mission accomplished!

My ex stayed in town a couple of more days with me. We did a few local things, went to Uncle Fat's in Temple Terrace, ate at Hank's BBQ in South Carrolwood, thrift store shopping in St. Pete, and Karaoke at the Front Porch for my friend's birthday.

At the end of the week together, I was back at the airport saying goodbye, again. I felt confused, but glad the trip was over. I was ready for reality again. My adventures led me through the desert, Church, to an old house, through the chilling tales of concentraition camps, and through a border close to detainee camps too. It led me through the open road, larger than life gas stations, street art, and live music. It also led me through heartache and yet peace. I also learned that while the universe keeps my ex in my life... I am meant to find my own path without him. And whoever is my forever, the universe will bring him to me at the right time.

Here's to the next adventure!

xoxo, Tiana
