One of the perks of living in Tampa, Florida is that I live where most vacation! The Tampa Bay area is filled with beautiful beaches, museums, local hot spots, dive bars, fishing piers, festivals, and most importantly.. FOOD!
I had the privilege of trying some of the deliciousness offered from Tampa Bay J's about a month ago when they were stationed at my go-to karaoke/bar Pete's Place North on April 12th. The eclectic menu and well seasoned food makes it worth following.
After some tunes and drinks, the smell of the barbeque grill really got me going. But you know how sometimes when you drink, food tends to taste better? Yeah, I didn't want that to happen. There was a guy at the bar with his plate and he looked so into it. Like with every bite, he seemed happier and happier. So.. I asked him about the food! Now mind you, Pete's Place North is in North Tampa. The guy I asked told me he drove all the way from St. Pete just for the food! That's a good 25 miles/30 minutes minimum! Yeah, I was like that's my sign!

Here's the menu for reference. The entrees do come with sides. I ordered Sausage and Peppers, Pulled Pork, and also wanted to try the Baked Beans, Loaded Potato Salad, and Mac and Cheese.
While I placed my order, I asked Tampa Bay J himself if I could interview him for this blog, and he happily obliged. Check out the interview here:
As promised in the interview I would give my honest opinion and let me tell you.. I was blown away!
The sausage and peppers.. OMG! Perfectly cooked, seasoned well, good amount of onions and peppers. The pulled pork is actually two smaller sandwiches (topped with coleslaw if you choose). The pork was juicy and tender, also well seasoned and the buns were toasted yet soft and fresh. J has his own barbeque sauce, make sure you add some too. I asked J to put the barbeque sauce for me, because sometimes I overdue it with condiments. -_- He put just the right amount! The loaded potato salad... my mouth is watering thinking about it now! It was sooooo good, I mean worth paying to get an extra side of it... or two! The baked beans.. also super delicious, sweet and savory! The mac and cheese is the only item that upon taste needed a pinch of salt, but once I did, it was just as delicious as everything else. And probably a little extra cheese, but if you know me... I love all things cheese! Personal cheese problem aside, the macaroni was cooked perfect! As you know, I do not get paid for my reviews so believe me when I say that Tampa Bay J's is worth driving too, finding, using as your catering or hosting an event! You will not be disappointed! I think my favorite part of my interview/review is that you can tell J is a hardworking man! There is nothing more inspiring than someone who works hard at something they love to do!
And make sure you find Tampa Bay J's food truck and try the food! He can be found on facebook under "Tampa Bay J's" or via phone at 727-408-8015.
Lastly, enjoy this little video clip of me trying some of the food!
